OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma County Criminal Justice Authority (Jail Trust) named Major Brandi Garner interim CEO and Jail Administrator Friday as they set plans to permanently replace outgoing CEO Greg Williams.
Williams resigned at the monthly Jail Trust meeting on December 5 amid public pressure, including a group of faith leaders who demanded his resignation or removal.
The Trust took a formal vote to issue a Request for Proposals to hire an executive search firm to guide the Trust through the process of conducting a national search for the best candidate to become the CEO and Administrator of the Oklahoma County Detention Center or County Jail.

Interim CEO
Major Brandi Garner has been serving the County Jail since January 2022 and has a resume full of corrections and law enforcement experience.
Previously, Garner was with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office where, according to a press release from the Trust, “she was integral in collaborating internally and with external organizations to build trust and provide accountability.”
Scobey spoke strongly of his trust and admiration for Garner, saying that when he met her several months ago, he recognized a leader immediately. He and the other Trustees welcomed Garner with encouragement and an acknowledgement that this is a tough job and these are difficult circumstances.
“My career in law enforcement and corrections, including my time in Oklahoma County, has given me experience and insight I’m excited to bring to this position,” Garner said in a provided quote. “I’m looking forward to ensuring we continue our positive growth, prioritizing the safety and well-being of our detainees, our staff and our community.”
In her position as interim CEO, Garner will be among the highest paid employees of the County at $135,000.
CEO Search begins
The Trust intends to conduct a broad nationwide search for a permanent replacement for Greg Williams to fill the CEO position.
At Friday’s meeting, the Trust unanimously voted in favor of issuing a Request for Proposals for an executive search firm to help in that process.
A firm will likely be chosen at the Trust’s March meeting.
In the meantime, Interim CEO Maj. Brandi Garner will be working alongside Williams until his last day on the job, January 19, 2023.
