Police were called to 3700 block of S. Council Road around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, the location of Hobby Lobby’s extensive warehouses.

From their interviews, the Oklahoma City Police Department believe that there was a work-related argument between the suspect and the victim who was his supervisor.

“It appears the suspect walked out to the parking lot and retrieved a firearm from his vehicle. He returned inside the business and shot Smith. Smith was pronounced deceased on scene,” said OKCPD Sgt. Dillon Quirk.

Investigators gained a description of the suspects vehicle. The suspect and his car were located at a gas station around I-35 and Highway 51.

The suspect then fled in his vehicle with OKCPD in pursuit.

Once the OKCPD helicopter arrived above and got the vehicle in sight, ground units were pulled off of the chase for safety.

“The suspect drove out of Oklahoma City limits where several other agencies became involved in the pursuit,” said Quirk with the OKCPD. “The suspect ultimately crashed in Kingfisher County near Highway 33 and N2960 Rd. He was pronounced deceased on scene.”

So far, there are not clear reports of how the suspect died at the end of that chase.

Other law enforcement agencies involved in the chase were:

  • Oklahoma Highway Patrol
  • Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office
  • Logan County Sheriff’s Office
  • Guthrie Police Department
  • Crescent Police Department
  • Cashion Police Department
