City’s latest homicide is death of 2017 shooting victim

-- OKC man already in prison may face new charges from victim's death, homicide #54 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2024

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Medical Examiner has determined that the January death of an Oklahoma City man was from gunshot wounds sustained in 2017.

The Oklahoma City Police Department is counting this death as homicide 54 for 2024 because the death occurred this year.

The victim’s name is:

  • Andre Jones (who was 48 at the time of the attack in 2017)

In 2017, Jones survived the attack. But the report of the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Jones’ death in January was from the shooting.

The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office who will ultimately determine if any charges will be filed.

The charges filed resulting in the conviction were:

  • Possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony

While in prison, he has committed, and been convicted of, several more crimes resulting in 20 more years to be served.

It will be up to the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office as to whether any further charges will be added, said MSgt. Gary Knight in an OKCPD press release.
