2 homicides, 1 arrest mark deadly early week in OKC metro

OKLAHOMA CITY – Two early-week homicides across the OKC metro area have resulted in one suspect in custody and a search for another in back-to-back days rocked by gun violence.

Southside shooting sees search for suspect

Shortly before 10:00pm Monday night, OKC police responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex in the area of SE 15th Street and S. High Ave., where they found a man shot.

He was identified as 50-year-old Erick Edwards, Sr.

Edwards was transferred to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the city’s 21st homicide of 2026.

Police have currently made arrests and named no suspects, but investigators say that neighbors claimed to have heard an argument or altercation before hearing the gunshots. They’re asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to call their Homicide Tip Line at (405) 297-1200.

OKCPD say they believe this investigation will take some time to complete.

Investigators say they believe that the shooting resulted from a fight between Pinon and his stepson, 29-year-old Elias Anaya.

Anaya was at the scene and was taken into custody by police.

Gabriel Pinon’s death is being recorded as Oklahoma City’s 22nd homicide in 2026.
