PRESS RELEASE: Metropolitan Library System kicks off 2026 Winter Reading Challenge and other January events

The Metropolitan Library System sends this information as posted below:

The Metropolitan Library System is inviting adults across Oklahoma County to start the new year with a good book through the annual Winter Reading Challenge from Jan. 1- Feb. 28.

A seasonal tradition, the challenge encourages adults to make time for reading in all formats, including audiobooks, magazines and novels. Participants can read at their own pace and choose titles that fit their interests and daily routines.

Librarians are available to offer custom recommendations through Tailored Titles, helping readers discover their next favorite book, or guests can use the Book Bingo card to explore new genres and themes, sparking variety and discovery.

Participants can track their reading on a physical Book Bingo card, available at all Metro Library locations or online at metrolibrary.org/bingo, or digitally through the Beanstack app by registering for Winter Reading 2026. Each title may be used only once per card, and completed cards must be submitted by 6 p.m. on March 6. Only one entry per person may be submitted for prizes.

Readers who complete five books or a full Bingo will receive a limited-edition library mug while supplies last. You’ll also be entered into a prize drawing for Apple AirPods, library merchandise, and a YMCA pass.

Readers who complete the full bingo card or read 25 books will earn an entry for a grand prize drawing featuring an iPad, two VIP tickets to Literary Voices featuring Jonathan Franzen, and a YMCA membership. A valid Metropolitan Library System card number must be on file in Beanstack to be eligible for prize drawings.

Whether the year begins with a mystery, memoir or audiobook, the Metropolitan Library System encourages the community to make reading part of their winter. More information is available at metrolibrary.org/bookbingo.
