OKLAHOMA CITY — A man was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in front of a southwest Oklahoma City home after what police believe was an argument that turned deadly.
Patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department were dispatched around 3:15 p.m. to the 2500 block of SW 45th Street, where they found Edwin Jelinek, 44, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police said Patrick Herrera, 32, fled the scene in a burgundy vehicle. Officers located the vehicle shortly afterward and followed it during a brief slow-speed pursuit.
Herrera eventually stopped at a residence and surrendered without incident.
He was booked into the Oklahoma County jail on a murder complaint.
Detectives believe the two men had argued shortly before the shooting. The case remains under investigation.
It is homicide #35 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2025.
