Suspect arrested in OKC motel homicide — victim identified

OKLAHOMA CITY — A homicide suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of a man found dead in a Southside motel on December 6.

The victim’s next-of-kin have now been notified. He is:

  • Gabriel Ruiz, 29.

Ruiz’s death is being counted as homicide #71 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2023. Since this death, another homicide has occurred in OKC.

Detectives with the Oklahoma City Police Department have arrested:

  • Prime Brown, 33, booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a First Degree Murder complaint.

Patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department were sent to the motel at 128 SW 44th Wednesday, Dec. 6 around 10:52 am. The call was regarding a dead person who had been found in a room.

Once the officers arrived, they assessed that the Ruiz had been shot.

Note: As of publication, the information provided by the OKCPD has not yet been tested in court. Under the law, all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty before a jury of their peers or a plea of guilt.
