With their win at the 2025 NAQT Oklahoma State Quiz Bowl Championship Tournament, the quiz bowl team from Yukon High School proved themselves yet again to be the team to watch, as well as more than worthy of playing on a national stage. This is also their fifth-ever win at the state level.
Quiz bowl is a competitive, academic, interscholastic activity for teams of four students. Quiz bowl teams use buzzers to answer questions about science, math, history, literature, mythology, geography, social science, current events, sports, and popular culture. The matches feature a blend of individual competition and team collaboration, since no individual player is likely to be an expert in all subject areas. Participation in quiz bowl both reinforces lessons from the classroom and encourages players to develop new intellectual interests.
The winning team, Yukon A—consisting of players Arianne Amasol, Alex Bach, Avery Manning, and Christopher Stewart—defeated their local rivals Morris A for the championship, in a field of 21 teams.
These teams, joined by Classen and Norman North, also qualified to represent their school in a 320-team national competition: National Academic Quiz Tournaments’ High School National Championship Tournament (HSNCT). Yukon High School has attended the High School National Championship Tournament three times before. Most recently, in 2024, they entered two teams, with their A team finishing in 21st place.
