PRESS RELEASE: Uptown District hosts third annual “Uptown Outside” block party

Oklahoma City, August 19, 2024- The Uptown 23rd District announced the return of Uptown Outside, a community block party, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 4 to 10 PM. 

All of OKC is invited to enjoy food, drinks, family fun, and live music in the Uptown District on NW 23rd Street along historic Route 66. 

“This block party is truly a celebration of everything that makes OKC special, from the mouthwatering food and family-friendly fun to the incredible live music and genuine neighborhood spirit. It’s all happening right on the streets of Uptown, and we can’t wait to see the community come alive in celebration!” said David Chitwood, Uptown 23rd Board member. 

The free concert will be headlined by Vandoliers, a cowpunk band reviving the innovative fusion of punk and country-style music that originated in Southern California and the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Attendees will be able to distinguish familiar notes of country, folk, and blues in the unique sub-genre of music. Other performing artists include Branjae, Los Beckleys, Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards, and Computer Girl. The Uptown Outside main stage will be at NW 23rd St. and Shartel Avenue. 

23rd Street will be closed down from Walker Avenue to Shartel Avenue, giving the public exclusive access to the district without extra traffic. Party attendees are encouraged to walk along  23rd Street and visit local businesses such as Boomtown Creamery, Guyutes, Big Truck Tacos and The Bungalows. Attendees will also find  Uptown Outside-exclusive deals on shopping, food, and drinks. Attendees can shop at booths from local vendors and help support the district by shopping small. In addition to shopping and dining, Uptown Outside will have a skate park and kids’ zone that is perfect for the whole family. 

Friends of Uptown members will have exclusive access to Uptown Outside VIP opportunities at businesses such as Guyetes, which will host the VIP rooftop for the evening concert. Friends of Uptown will enjoy special discounts through their membership access, which is one perk of being a Friends of Uptown member.
