(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK) Today, the Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) Board of Education approved the name Skyline Middle School for the district’s new middle school, scheduled to open in August 2026. The architect for this project is The Stacy Group and the Construction Manager is Willowbrook Construction.
The new building, funded through the OKCPS 2022 Bond with more than 60% voter approval, will be located at Southeast 25th Street and High Avenue. It will serve students from Capitol Hill and Wheeler Middle Schools, which will no longer operate as middle school facilities once Skyline opens.
The name was selected through a thoughtful, community-driven process led by an advisory committee. This group carefully reviewed community submissions, gathered public input, and ultimately recommended the Skyline name to the Board of Education. The committee included District 7 Board Member Meg McElhaney, as well as families, staff and students from Capitol Hill and Wheeler Middle Schools.
“Naming the new school Skyline felt like the perfect fit,” said OKCPS District 7 Board Member, Meg McElhaney. “From the campus, you can see the Oklahoma City skyline and it’s a daily reminder to our students that their future is wide open. This name reflects the hope, ambition and the pride we have in our kids and our city. It’s exciting to see bond projects like this come to life and to know we’re investing in beautiful, high-quality spaces where all students can thrive.”
