(Oklahoma City, OK) – Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) is reminding families that the application window for the district’s Application School programs for the 2025-2026 academic year is still open. Students who have not yet applied are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity before the February 21, 2025 deadline.
OKCPS Application Schools offer specialized academic environments beyond students’ assigned neighborhood schools, providing rigorous programs in STEAM, Visual and Performing Arts, International Baccalaureate (IB) and leadership. These free, public schools are designed for students eager to challenge themselves and explore their passions.
Students entering 5th grade through 12th grade are eligible to apply to these “no-boundaries” programs regardless of their home address within the district.
“Our application schools provide students with exceptional learning experiences that prepare them for success,” said OKCPS Superintendent Dr. Jamie Polk. “Classen SAS at Northeast is the number one high school in Oklahoma, setting the standard for academic and artistic excellence. Belle Isle High School, opening in August 2027, will expand access to high-quality, leadership-focused learning, while Southeast High School builds on its rich history with a strong focus on aeronautical programs and STEM. These schools reflect OKCPS’s commitment to Academic Achievement—one of our six Key Performance Indicators—by offering rigorous coursework and environments that challenge and inspire. I encourage families to explore these outstanding opportunities and apply before the deadline.”
The selective application process considers factors such as academic achievement, attendance, auditions, grades, and teacher recommendations, depending on the program.
Key Dates for the Application Process:
- Application Deadline: February 21, 2025
- Acceptance and Denial Notifications: March 14, 2025
- Enrollment Declaration Deadline for Accepted Students: March 28, 2025
