The Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) sends this information as posted below:
Oklahoma City Police Department officials today announced the launch of two new online reporting systems designed to increase resident accessibility to reporting certain crimes and submitting compliments or complaints related to interactions with OKCPD employees.
The two systems are: 1) the Online Police Report System, and 2) the Online Compliment or Complaint Form. During this initial phase, the online reporting systems are available in English only. There are plans to expand system capabilities to include Spanish and Vietnamese language versions.
“The online reporting systems provide our community with greater access to on-demand crime reporting and an additional way for residents to report interactions with department employees – whether positive or negative,” said Oklahoma City Police Chief Ron Bacy. “This empowers residents with the ability to self-report incidents at their convenience, through their preferred method and track the report through the system with email updates.”
Filing an Online Police Report
Residents can use the Online Police Report System to file police reports that do not require an immediate officer response, such as embezzlement, harassment, lost property, theft from a vehicle, forgeries, fraud, vandalism and other crimes. Residents must have a valid email address to file a report and select the type of crime being reported from a list and description of crime incident types. The system enables users to submit video, photos and audio once a report is reviewed and confirmed eligible for online reporting.
After completing the online report, users receive an email notification with a Tracking Number. When the report is processed, users receive an additional email stating whether the report needs follow-up information, is rejected or is approved. A report might be rejected if the crime occurs outside Oklahoma City limits, is reported anonymously or doesn’t fit the criteria for online reporting. Once the submission is determined to be an appropriate report, users will receive the assigned Incident Report Number.
After filing an online police report, users can follow-up on submitted reports by contacting the Oklahoma City Police Records Unit at 405-297-1112 and provide either a Tracking Number or an Incident Report Number.
Residents who are unable to file an online police report in English should continue to use the existing reporting method of calling 911 to request an officer.
Submitting an OKCPD Employee Compliment or Complaint
Residents can submit an OKCPD Employee Compliment or Complaint Form online through the OKCPD Contact Us page. Users can choose to identify themselves or remain anonymous when filing an OKCPD Employee Compliment or Complaint Form. A separate link will allow users to upload video, photos and audio as part of the reporting process.
Downloadable PDF versions of the Compliment and Complaint Form continue to be available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese on the Contact Us page. Forms also can be picked up at any police station. Residents can return completed forms to any police station, contact a supervisor to retrieve the form or mail the form to the OKCPD Office of Professional Standards, 700 Colcord Drive, Oklahoma City, OK 73102.
“Feedback on interactions with OKCPD employees is crucial in our efforts to continuously improve our communication and service to our community,” Chief Bacy said. “We want to hear when our employees are doing great work serving the community, and we also want to know when an interaction with an employee did not meet the expectations, so that it can be reviewed through the proper channel.”
The online OKCPD Employee Compliment and Complaint Form helps advance OKC Public Safety Partnership’s Recommendation 17, part of 39 recommendations delivered in a report to City Council in 2022, in an effort to enhance and refine community engagement and accountability in law enforcement policies.
