PRESS RELEASE: OKC Animal Welfare, Hill’s Pet Nutrition host adoption campaign

OKC Animal Welfare sends this information as posted below:

OKC Animal Welfare is teaming up with Hill’s Pet Nutrition for Hill’s “Home Sweet Homecoming” adoption campaign, now through Saturday, Oct. 3. Inspired by the excitement of school homecoming, the campaign celebrates the new beginnings of welcoming a pet home.

During the campaign, adoption fees will be waived for eligible large dogs weighing 40 pounds or more. Adopters receive a new pet parent kit from Hill’s, which includes a starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet, coupons and post-adoption tips.

“Large dogs make up a significant portion of the dogs in our care, and right now we have over 50 dogs eligible for this campaign,” Animal Welfare Superintendent Johny Sandoval said. “Home Sweet Homecoming gives us an opportunity to put the spotlight on these dogs and help them find families. Sometimes all it takes is getting someone through the door to meet the dog that’s right for them.”

The campaign includes dogs ready to leave the shelter, those receiving medical care, those in the PAWS2ADOPT program and those in foster care. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives.

During the campaign, Hill’s will contribute up to $100,000 to offset adoption fees at select Food, Shelter & Love partner locations in the United States. Since 2002, the Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love program has helped more than 16 million cats and dogs find new homes and has provided more than $300 million in pet nutrition to feed pets across its partner shelters.

OKC Animal Shelter is located at 2811 SE 29th St. The facility is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with adoptions beginning at noon.
