NICHOLS HILLS, Okla. (May 13, 2026) – The City of Nichols Hills city council yesterday elected Sody Clements to serve as mayor. This will be her sixth term serving as mayor since being elected to the Nichols Hills City Council in 2009, making her the longest-serving female mayor in the city’s history.
“The love for my hometown inspires me to continue serving the City of Nichols Hills,” said Clements. “We have an outstanding team of city council members, including Steven J. Goetzinger and Colin FitzSimons, along with incredible city leaders like Shane Pate. My hope is more residents will join our city council meetings and get involved in the many meaningful projects that make up our beloved community.”
Clements and her family have lived in Nichols Hills for decades. Her focus includes preserving the history of the city while growing alongside its progress and advocating for upgrades to streets and aging infrastructure to keep its approximately 4,000 residents safe.
During Tuesday’s city council meeting, Colin FitzSimons was elected vice mayor. The meeting also marked a milestone for former mayor Steven J. Goetzinger, who took the oath of office for his sixth consecutive term as a city councilmember.
