5/16/25 Demolition Update
Here are the latest demolition updates for former Myriad Convention Center. These updates will be sent out every Friday during this phase.
Traffic Advisories
- OG&E was able to complete their work on EK Gaylord Boulevard on May 12. They had to suspend the work on Reno and Sheridan. This work is scheduled to start again on May 27 with single lane closures alternating on Sheridan and Reno.
Project Reminders
- The pedestrian canopy on the northeast corner will start to come down the week of May 19.
- Parts of the sidewalks surrounding the site will be open during demolition (shown in green), and parts will be closed (shown in red). However, accessible ramps at all four corners are open.
- We will not see major exterior activity for the first couple of months because the contractor is removing the combustible material from inside the building.
- Trucks will enter the building from the west side on Ron Norick Boulevard and exit on the east side on South EK Gaylord Boulevard.
- Demolition on the Myriad Convention Center started April 2.
Current Demolition Activity
Below are photos of the current work happening in the former convention center. The contractors are removing wall panels, wood trim, insulation, sheetrock and fiberglass from the columns. They are also tearing down steel from the walls to recycle it. The skybridge has been prepared for demolition.
