Metro Technology Centers sends this information as posted below:

OKLAHOMA CITY – Metro Tech is now offering a new training program for those seeking to obtain their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in Oklahoma City. Through an expanding partnership with Central Tech, CDL Class A and B Truck Driver Training courses are now held at the Metro Tech South Bryant Campus, 4901 S Bryant Ave, Oklahoma City, 73129.

Metro Tech is one of 14 CareerTech districts to join Central Tech’s Truck Driver Training (TDT) program partnership. The program has grown substantially statewide in recent years, with 75 graduates in FY22, 382 in FY23, and 550 in FY24.

It also boasts a 99% placement rate, underscoring its effectiveness in preparing students for successful careers in trucking.

“Partnering with technology centers across the state allows us to expand our reach and help more Oklahomans secure high-paying jobs in the trucking industry,” Central Tech TDT Program Director John Thorpe said.

The program offers an overview of road safety and federal regulations while providing students hands-on driving experience. Instructors use a two-student-per-truck model to ensure personalized instruction and extensive hands-on experience. Additionally, all testing is conducted in-house, and fees are included in the program’s cost.

“With over 60,000 open truck driver positions nationwide, the demand for skilled truck drivers is at an all-time high,” Metro Tech’s TDT program coordinator, Cody McPherson, said. “The impact of this training will be seen through generations, strengthening our community and economy.”

Upon graduation, newly licensed drivers can earn a starting salary of $61,000 annually. Top employers like Freymiller Inc., McLane, Love’s, and Ben E. Keith are actively seeking personnel, offering a fast track to a stable and lucrative career.

“We are excited to join Central Tech’s Truck Driver Training program to offer a pathway to high-demand, well-paying careers in the trucking industry,” Metro Tech Superintendent and CEO Aaron Collins said. “This program reflects Metro Tech’s commitment to workforce development and creating opportunities for students to thrive in today’s economy.”
