Oklahoma City, February 19, 2024 – Beto O’Rourke, former Texas congressman and 2020 presidential candidate, will be at Full Circle Bookstore, fullcirclebooks.com, for a candid talk about voting rights and a signing of his book “We’ve Got To Try” on February 28 at 6:30 p.m. O’Rourke will also take time to answer audience questions.
The free-to-attend event will focus on two core issues addressed by O’Rourke in his book—protecting the right to vote and saving democracy. As a former Texas congressman and founder of Powered By People, a voting rights and voter registration organization, O’Rourke will outline both the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead of the upcoming elections.
O’Rourke explained, “In these highly polarized, politically paralyzed times where we can be forgiven for wondering whether we’re going to make it, ‘We’ve Got to Try’ reminds us that action is the antidote to despair. That’s a message that everyone can use right now.”
To illustrate his point, O’Rourke said he’ll talk about some of the extraordinary Americans who’ve prevailed against incredible odds to make success as a country possible. Stories like these are at the heart of O’Rourke’s work with Powered By People, and they are the type of stories he hopes will inspire Oklahomans to participate in the democratic process and the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
