PRESS RELEASE: Enrollment now open for Nature Explorers Preschool at the OKC Zoo

The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden sends this information as posted below:

Nature Explorers Preschool at the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden is now enrolling for full-time care for the 2024-25 school year starting August 12, 2024.

With a new preschool center, state-of-the-art classrooms and a dedicated nature-based outdoor learning area, Nature Explorers Preschool is entering a new and exciting era, said Early Childhood Center Director Amanda Milligan.

“Our goal is for students to spend 75 percent of their time outdoors, leaning about the natural world: animals, their habitats, their role in the world, and our responsibility to protect and preserve them,” Milligan said. “And Nature Explorers adheres to all OKDHS childcare licensing standards, Oklahoma Early Learning Guidelines, Oklahoma Academic Standards for Pre-K, and school readiness skills.”

Nature Explorers is open to children who are ages 3-5 years old on or before September 1, 2024. All three classes will be mixed-age groups. Studies show that this age range works well together to advance older and younger students alike, Milligan added. Each class of approximately 15 children will have two teachers for full-day preschool.

Preschool tuition is $345 weekly and includes breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack as well as a ZOOfriends membership Passport for four (4) while student is enrolled. Parents interested in Nature Explorers Preschool can attend open house sessions at the new classroom center on these dates:

  • Wednesday, July 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 18, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 27, from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
