PRESS RELEASE: ‘Edith Head: Hollywood’s Costume Designer’ at OKCMOA closes next month!

The Oklahoma City Museum of Art (OKCMOA) sends this information as posted below:

Edith Head: Hollywood’s Costume Designer

Closing Sunday, September 29

Along with 70 costumes, visitors can see twenty costume sketches in the exhibition Edith Head: Hollywood’s Costume Designer!

Completing on average thirty-five films per year, costume departments would have wardrobes for multiple films in progress at the same time. The design process started with reading the film script and mapping out a wardrobe plot, which lists out the characters and descriptions of the costumes and the sequence in which they would be used. If it was a historical film, researchers used Paramount’s large library to provide pictures and facts from the period. Head and the sketch artists would then create sketches of the costumes.

Be sure to see this original exhibition before it closes; it won’t be traveling to other venues!
