PRESS RELEASE: Drawings for Oklahoma City duck blinds set for Sept. 14

Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation sends this information as posted below:

The annual drawing for waterfowl blind sites at Lake Stanley Draper and Lake Overholser/Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge will be Saturday, Sept. 14.

Registration opens at 10 a.m., and the drawing will be at 11 a.m. in the concession facility at the Lake Draper Marina, 8301 SE 104th St.

Participants must have an annual permit before the drawing. Annual permits are $12.50 and must be purchased in advance either online at okc.gov/parks or from authorized vendors.

All blind site drawing participants must be at least 18 years old.

Blind site locations and hunting regulations will be posted at the drawing site and can be found at okc.gov/departments/parks-recreation/lakes-and-fishing/hunting.

Duck and geese hunting begins in November during the Fall Oklahoma Waterfowl Season, with dates set by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.

Ducks and geese must be hunted from designated blind sites. Bank hunting and hunting from watercraft are prohibited. Any watercraft used to get to and from blind locations must have a current City boating permit. Hunters must construct their blind sites no later than three days before the season opens.

All federal and state laws regarding the hunting of migratory waterfowl will be enforced, as well as relevant City ordinances. City code prohibits hunting, shooting, trapping, capturing or killing permitted ducks and geese with anything but a shotgun (no larger than 10-gauge) using non-toxic shells (no larger than BB-sized shot).
