The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) sends this information as posted below:
OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 15, 2025) – January 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the Child Support Enforcement (CSE) program which now enables approximately one in five children across the nation to receive a combined $29.6 billion in financial support from their non-custodial parent. While the provision of continued child support has been proven to prevent families from slipping into poverty, Oklahoma Human Services’ Child Support Services team works strategically to ensure the security of its clients.
Whether the agency’s Child Support Services employees are providing domestic violence survivors with tailored support services, exhausting all efforts to locate non-custodial parents, or donating to causes that fight poverty across the state, their hearts and minds are focused on the families they serve.
This year, in lieu of hosting their usual office holiday gift exchange, Midwest City’s Child Support Services team donated 153 pounds of food, representing 128 meals, to The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
“We just wanted to do more,” said Leah Agers, Child Support Services attorney. “We wanted to do our part to ensure families could experience the wonder and joy of the holidays without having to worry about where their next meal would come from.”
While 2024’s holiday donation marked the first for the 26-member-team, they intend to keep the giving going by making the event an annual tradition.
In state fiscal year 2024, Child Support Services employees ensured timely support payments for more than 166,000 children across Oklahoma. While Child Support Services is fighting poverty this month and all year long, Oklahoma Human Services recognizes the 50th anniversary of CSE and celebrates the stability it continues to bring to the children and families it serves.
