PRESS RELEASE: Celebrate ‘Where You Belong’ during Parks and Recreation Month

Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation sends this information as posted below:

This July, join OKC Parks for Park and Recreation Month as they celebrate how Oklahoma City is stronger, more vibrant and more resilient because of parks and recreation.

Various activities are planned for residents of all ages and abilities — including fitness, performing arts, nature hikes, free fishing classes and more. For a list of classes visit okc.gov/parks.

The community is invited to share their experiences, memories and stories about what parks and recreation means to them. NRPA and OKC Parks encourage everyone who supports parks and recreation to share how it has fostered belonging and why their local park and recreation professionals are important to them on social media with #WhereYouBelong.

“National Park and Recreation Month is a great way to draw attention to the valuable work being done by parks and recreation departments across the country, especially here in OKC,” Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Scott Fairman said. “OKC Parks provides opportunities for residents to enjoy the outdoors, boost their health and wellness, engage socially and provides a sense of community pride. We enjoy being a part of our resident’s lives and are proud of the work we do.”
