deadCenter University Screenwriting Workshop: February – March 2025

We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Rose State College for the inaugural deadCenter University Screenwriting Workshop! This FREE exclusive program will select 24 Oklahoma high school students to learn from professional screenwriting mentors. The top two participants will each have the chance to write a script for the deadCenter University short films, premiering at the 25th Annual deadCenter Film Festival and submitted to additional festivals!

This workshop aligns with Rose State College’s acclaimed screenwriting program, focused on storytelling, character development, and industry-standard techniques. Sessions will take place on February 1st, 8th, 22nd, and March 1st, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Rose State College.

While snacks will be provided, please note that transportation and accommodations are not included.

Eligibility: Open to high school students only
Virtual Interviews: Conducted in December and January

Our dear friend, board member, and founding program director Melissa Scaramucci was honored this week at the 18th Annual Paseo Arts Awards! Melissa received the Creative Placemaking Award, an honor recognizing her ‘substantial contributions to strengthening creative communities, making the role of art essential in enhancing local character for positive economic development and community outcomes.’ If you know Melissa, you know just how well-deserved this award is. She’s a rising tide of creativity and innovation, and our city and state are better thanks to her steadfast support of art and artists across mediums. Way to go, Melissa!

Tis the Season: Make the Yuletide Gay 2024

Join us on Friday, December 13, at Rodeo Cinema Stockyards for Make the Yuletide Gay: a free and inclusive evening of festive frivolity in partnership with the Oklahoma Pride Alliance! Mix and mingle with local queens Nikita and Patty BouRey before their showstopping pre-show performances, then stick around for a screening of comedy-drama Tangerine (2015) from Anora director Sean Baker. We can’t wait to see y’all there! Thanks and gratitude to our friends (and longtime members of Santa’s nice list) at Allied Arts, whose generous grants made this programming possible.
