One dead after knife and gun fight on OKC’s south side

OKLAHOMA CITY — One man is dead after a fight on Oklahoma City’s south side involving a knife and a gun.

The death is homicide #2 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2024.

Patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department were sent to a business Monday at 5:27 PM in the 1600 block of SW 29th Street to check out a disturbance.

When officers arrived, they found Marvin Lee, 56, dead from a gunshot wound, according to a press release.

After an investigation, detectives believe that Thomas arrived at the business and started a fight or altercation with someone who was inside the business.

Thomas then pulled a knife and swung it at the other person, who then pulled a gun and shot Thomas, killing him.

“Currently, it appears this is a case of self-defense but will be presented to the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office,” read the press release from Sgt. Dillon Quirk, OKCPD.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with any information should contact the Homicide Tip Line 405/297-1200.
