One dead after fight at event center in SW OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY — A man was killed in a fight at an event center in SW Oklahoma City just after midnight Saturday morning.

Tommy Lee Benson, 47, was killed when he was “struck in the head with a chair” during a fight at an event center at 2121 S. Portland Avenue, according to SSgt. Dillon Quirk with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

After OKCPD patrol officers arrived they had Benson transported to an area hospital where he died from his wounds.

The death is homicide #15 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2025.

No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made as of publication.
