Cindy Byrd launches run for Oklahoma lieutenant governor

OKLAHOMA CITY – State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd has filed paperwork indicating she is running for lieutenant governor.

“I filed the registration form with the Ethics Commission to run for Lieutenant Governor as a formality that is required,” Byrd said. “I still have important audits to complete in my role as State Auditor and will continue to work hard for Oklahoma taxpayers to perform my responsibilities and hold all levels of government accountable.”

Byrd, a Republican, said her campaign kickoff will be announced later this year.

Byrd is term-limited from running for her current office.

Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell, also a Republican, is term-limited from seeking another term in that office.
