OKLAHOMA CITY – A northwest OKC man was killed in his home in the early hours of Saturday morning, and police have booked his nephew on a second-degree murder complaint.
At around 2:00am on Saturday, July 18th, paramedics were dispatched to a residential home near W. Hefner Rd. and N. Western Ave. to check on an unresponsive man that had sustained significant injuries.
That man was identified as 57-year-old Quinto Ackerson.
Following resuscitation efforts at the scene, Ackerson was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries.
Police arrived after the paramedics and say that they determined that Ackerson was injured in a fight with his nephew, 40-year-old Christopher Wayne Smith, who also lived at the residence.
Smith was arrested and booked on a complaint of second-degree murder for Ackerson’s killing, as well as for attempting to disrupt or prevent the emergency call.
Information released by OKC police did not elaborate on the kinds of injuries that Ackerson sustained or if a weapon was used.
Ackerson’s death has been recorded as Oklahoma City’s 39th homicide this year.
