OKLAHOMA CITY – Two men were killed and another critically injured in two cases of gun violence over the weekend, but OKC police are currently thin on details and have no arrests or public leads to report thus far.
The killings are the 27th and 28th reported homicides for the city this year.
Homicide # 27 – 2100 block of SW 38th St.
Shortly after 10:30pm on the night of Saturday, May 16th, Oklahoma City police responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of SW 38th Street, near SW 36th and Pennsylvania Ave.
There, first responders found two men shot.
One victim was still alive in critical condition and was rushed to a local hospital.
The other, 26-year-old Enrique Chavez, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A release sent by the OKC Police Department said that police “are still trying to determine exactly what led to the two men being shot” and asked for anyone with any knowledge to call their Homicide Tip-Line at (405) 297-1200.

Homicide #28 – 3200 block of S. Independence Ave.
At nearly the exact same time that police were responding to the call on SW 38th St. Saturday night, police were alerted to a body discovered in Woodson Park in the 3200 block of S. Independence Ave. near SW 29th Street.
After a group called to report that they had found the body in the park, police arrived and determined that the man was deceased and that he had suffered gunshot wounds.
He was identified as 36-year-old Kayron Winters.
Currently, police are reporting no other information or leads and have made no arrests. They are again asking anyone with any knowledge to call their Homicide Tip-Line at (405) 297-1200.
