Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) sends this information as posted below:
(Oklahoma City, OK) Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) is now accepting applications for its established Bond Citizens Oversight Committee (BCOC), which provides independent community oversight to ensure transparency and accountability in the District’s bond program.
In 2022, OKCPS voters approved a historic $955 million bond, the largest in district history. The bond funded improvements across all schools, including new construction, campus renovations, transportation, technology and safety upgrades.
Reestablishing the BCOC plays a key role in monitoring key areas critical to ensuring the bond’s success and transparency. This volunteer committee plays a vital role in monitoring progress, offering recommendations, and strengthening public trust as OKCPS moves forward with bond-related projects.
The Committee will include eight members who must reside within OKCPS district boundaries. Seven members will represent Board of Education districts one through seven and must live in the district they represent throughout their term.
Applications are open to all eligible residents and should include detailed information about the applicant’s interest and qualifications. Submissions will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the Board Chair before consideration by the full Board of Education. Positions without qualified applicants will remain open until filled.
Interested applicants can complete an application at this link. Applications are due by May 8.
