PRESS RELEASE: Hunger Never Takes a Holiday: The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Holiday Match Returns

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma sends this information as posted below:

(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Nov. 19, 2025 – This holiday season, double the impact of your donations to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma with the Holiday Match. Through Jan. 15, all donations to the Regional Food Bank are matched, up to $350,000, thanks to presenting sponsor APMEX and with help from the Cresap Family Foundation. Every gift will go twice as far, as every $1 helps the Regional Food Bank provide six meals. KOCO 5 returns this holiday season as the official television partner of the Holiday Match.

“Hunger in Oklahoma has never been higher, and the needs of the community continue to change,” said Kenneth Lewis, APMEX CEO.  “We are proud to partner with the Regional Food Bank to support their mission of feeding anyone in need. This has been a 15-year partnership and a cause that we believe strongly in.  We are hopeful others will show their support during this holiday season.”

Although it has come to an end, the recent federal government shutdown has put an unprecedented strain on Oklahomans living with food insecurity, the Regional Food Bank and its partners.

“During the government shutdown, we saw a significant surge in Oklahomans visiting food pantries for the first time. Families are trying to pay their bills, keep up with high costs and still put enough food on their tables,” said Stacy Dykstra, CEO of the Regional Food Bank. “This holiday season is the perfect time to give back and help Oklahomans who are struggling to make ends meet.”

KOCO 5 will highlight the Holiday Match throughout the campaign with special programming detailing the impact of the Regional Food Bank’s programs.

The Regional Food Bank’s network of community-based partners operates in 53 counties across central and western Oklahoma. Partners like the Regional Food Bank Food & Resource Center in Moore serve hundreds of Oklahomans each week. The Regional Food Bank recently spoke with Leslea, whose family is struggling to make ends meet.

“My husband is in construction but hasn’t been able to get a job recently,” Leslea says. “I stay home just to take care of our two kids. Every few months, we just run out of funds.”

It’s important for Leslea to ensure her kids have the nutritious meals they need so they can grow and thrive. The Regional Food Bank Food & Resource Center makes all the difference for Leslea and her family, especially with the holidays just around the corner.

“Thank you,” Leslea says. “We really appreciate it and love the help!”

Help deliver hope to Oklahomans like Leslea this holiday season by making a tax-deductible donation at rfbo.org/give, by texting “MealsOK” to 53-555 or by calling 405-600-3161. Donations can be mailed to:
