OKLAHOMA CITY — An early morning shooting Monday left one man dead and another in custody in what police are investigating as the 51st homicide of 2025 in Oklahoma City.
Patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department were dispatched to a call about 12:25 a.m. in the 4700 block of West Park Place.
When officers arrived, they found Luis Lopez, 29, dead at the scene. He appeared to have been shot.
From their initial investigation, detectives believe Lopez and Devin Cartwright, 30, got into an altercation that ended with Lopez being shot and killed.
Cartwright remained at the scene and was taken into custody. After questioning, he was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a murder complaint. Bond was denied.
