OKLAHOMA CITY — UPDATED September 3 — Police have identified a woman who was stabbed to death at a campsite in west Oklahoma City on August 23. A man was critically injured in the same incident.
The woman has been positively identified as 34-year-old Cerise Lewis.
Patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department were dispatched about 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, to a camp in a wooded area in the 4600 block of NW 19th on a check-the-welfare call involving an injured man, according to a press release from MSgt. Gary Knight with OCPD.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds and Lewis, who had died from apparent stab wounds.
Police believe the two had been living together in the camp.
Detectives have not determined what led to the stabbing.
The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The Lewis’ body is now with the State Medical Examiner’s Office, which typically takes several months before conclusive reports are issued.
The woman’s death is homicide #49 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2025.
