OKLAHOMA CITY — A shootout in a near Westside OKC parking lot left one dead and three others suffering gunshot wounds on Sunday.
This is homicide #17 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2024.
Patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department were sent to 3034 N. Portland Avenue in the dark early hours of Sunday morning on reports of gunfire.
They arrived at 3:36 AM to find that several people were suffering from gunshot wounds.
One, Carlin Hawthorne, 22, was sitting in a vehicle shot and was taken to a local hospital where she died.
From interviews at the scene, police believe that Hawthorne and the three others were not actually in the fight but were bystanders, according to OKCPD spokesperson Sgt. Dillon Quirk.
The three others hit with gunfire received “non-life-threatening” wounds and were treated at local hospitals.
According to Sgt. Quirk, detectives are still interviewing people who were at the scene to gather a better concept of what happened.
No arrests have been made so far. Anyone with any information should contact the Homicide Tip Line 405/297-1200.
