OKLAHOMA CITY — A 3-year-old boy died Sunday after he was shot with a firearm left on a bed in a northwest Oklahoma City apartment, police said. Detectives believe the shooting was accidental.
Patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department were called to an area hospital around 12:14 p.m. Sunday after the child, identified as Kenari Windom, arrived by private vehicle with a gunshot wound. He was taken into surgery but later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police said the shooting occurred at an apartment near Memorial Road and North Pennsylvania Avenue, in the 12800 block of Stratford Drive.
Detectives believe the gun belonged to 22-year-old Anthony Lawrence Grizzard Jr., who had left the firearm on the bed beside him. The child was able to access the weapon, and it discharged, striking the child.
Grizzard fled the scene but was taken into custody the following day. He was interviewed by detectives and booked into the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of second-degree murder and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. A $5 million bond was set.

The death marks homicide #40 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2025.
