OKLAHOMA CITY — The suspect in a recent homicide is reported dead after a standoff with officers from the Topeka, Kansas Police Department.
Carlos Slaughter, 51, was found dead in a Topeka house when police moved in to make an arrest.
Topeka police believe that he died by suicide but no official determination as to his cause of death has been released yet.
He was named in a warrant as the suspect in the death of his wife, Kellie Slaughter, discovered in a house fire in south OKC Thursday, July 24. Her death was homicide #41 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2025.
According to a report by WIBW in Topeka, police there went to the home in west Topeka around 11:30 p.m. on information that a suspect in the Oklahoma City homicide was there.
When they arrived, they discovered that Carlos Slaughter was barricaded inside the home.
Eventually, when police broke into the home around 4:00 a.m. Wednesday they discovered Slaughter dead.
