OKLAHOMA CITY – A suspect is now in custody for a shooting that left one person dead in a southwest Oklahoma City apartment complex earlier this month.

21-year-old Santana Orlando Mathis was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder for the shooting death of 42-year-old Brently Joseph Mueller on the night of Friday, February 6th.
That night, at approximately 11:17 p.m., officers were called to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 3700 block of S. Pennsylvania Avenue where they found Mueller suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died.
Mueller’s death is considered the city’s ninth homicide for 2026, part of a rash of four homicides across OKC that same weekend, as Free Press reported previously:
Mathis was located by Oklahoma City Police and arrested on Tuesday, February 10th on charges of first-degree murder and unlawfully carrying weapons.
His bail was set at $5 million.
