Del City, OK — October 15, 2025 Sunny Lane United Methodist Church is proud to announce the formation of a new non-profit organization, the Mid Del Creative Arts Institute (MDCAI), dedicated to expanding access to fine arts education for children in the Midwest City and Del City communities.
The MDCAI will offer low-cost extracurricular instruction in music, visual arts, theater, and more, helping local youth explore their creativity and develop their talents in a supportive environment.
To kick off this exciting initiative, Sunny Lane UMC will host the Spooky Fundraiser Concert on Thursday, October 30 at 6:30 PM, held at the church located at 2020 Sunny Lane Road, Del City. The evening will feature spirited performances by the Sunny Lane UMC Church Choir and Orchestra, along with special guest appearances by the Del City Middle School and High School Choirs.
Admission is free, and donations are encouraged. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit MDCAI’s programs and scholarships.
“We believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy and growth that comes from participating in the arts. That’s a challenge for our community where many families cannot afford the cost of private instruction” said Rev. Adam Young, Senior Pastor at Sunny Lane UMC. “MDCAI is our way of investing in the future of our community.”
Oklahoma State Representative Andy Fugate (D-Del City) attends Sunny Lane UMC and is excited about this launch.
Fugate said, “When I was in band at Del City High School, many of us took private lessons. Private lessons are critical to the success of high performing arts programs. The MDCAI will serve as a connection point for our community and directly contribute to the success of our school programs.”
Sunny Lane United Methodist Church is located at 2020 South Sunnylane Rd. in Del City. For more information about MDCAI or the Spooky Fundraiser Concert, please contact the church office at 405-677-3347 or Taylor Roland at troland@sunnylaneumc.com.
