High school and career tech juniors and seniors across the seven‑county metro area are invited to attend the “From Classroom to City Career: Hiring & Career Expo” from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Metro Tech, 1900 Springlake Drive.
The come-and-go event is free for students. Interviews will be going on throughout the day, so students should plan their time accordingly. Sophomores interested in learning more about the Oklahoma City Police Department Cadet Program are also welcome.
The seven counties include: Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland, Grady, Lincoln, Logan and McClain.
Opportunities for students
- Interview for full-time and part-time job openings with the City to receive conditional job offers or placement on hiring lists for future vacancies.
- Explore career paths.
- Visit showcase tables hosted by City departments and community partners.
- Attend workplace readiness workshops.
- See City equipment and demonstrations.
- Participate in activities and door‑prize drawings.
- Enjoy a complimentary lunch provided by American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 2406.
“This event helps students take important first steps toward launching their careers with the City,” Chief Human Resources Officer Aimee Maddera said. “We are proud to partner with our departments and OKC’s labor union, AFSME, to offer opportunities that help young people build confidence, gain workplace readiness skills and secure jobs with the City. Hosting this event on Metro Tech’s beautiful campus this year is especially exciting.”
Applications and interviews

The application deadline is March 10 at 11:55 p.m. for 911 Dispatcher Trainee positions, and March 19 at 11:55 p.m. for all other positions.
To interview on-site, students must bring a photo ID showing their date of birth. Students under 18 must have parent or guardian consent to accept conditional job offers.

Benefits
The City offers competitive pay and benefits. Benefits for full-time employees include 96 hours of vacation leave and 130 hours of sick leave per year, 11 regular holidays per year, employer-paid parking/EMBARK bus pass for eligible employees working at the downtown campus, a retirement plan, medical center for employees and covered dependents, tuition reimbursement and life, health, dental and vision insurance options.
Part-time employees do not receive benefits but are eligible for the Employee Assistance Program and do receive preference in hiring processes for General Represented full-time positions.
