The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) sends this information as posted below:
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (Feb. 12, 2026) – As part of the Healthy Foods Waiver beginning Sunday, Feb. 15, select food items will no longer be eligible for purchase with SNAP. These items include candy such as chocolate bars, hard candies, gummies, caramels, taffy, licorice, mints and gum as well as some drinks including soda, energy drinks, sweetened teas, lemonades and flavored or sweetened water.
Most foods will still be eligible for purchase with SNAP, including fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy, grains, eggs, plant‑based proteins, 100% juice, plain water, and coffee or tea prepared at home.
SNAP customers do not need to take any action at this time. Oklahomans will continue to receive their benefits as usual and amounts will not change. They can also continue shopping at their regular stores. Retailers are prepared for these changes.
“In Oklahoma, we are prioritizing healthy lifestyles, and that starts with nutritious food,” said Governor Stitt. “By ensuring SNAP benefits go toward foods that support good health, I am proud that we’re taking real steps to make Oklahoma healthy again and better stewarding taxpayer dollars along the way.”
For a detailed list of changes visit the Oklahoma Human Services Healthy Food Waiver webpage.
The SNAP Healthy Foods Waiver is a federally approved project to support healthier food choices and improve nutrition outcomes for Oklahoma families. This waiver does not change who is eligible for SNAP or how benefit amounts are calculated. It only affects which food items can be purchased with SNAP benefits.
