Designed for ages 8-12
Students will explore the world of color and shape in this class, inspired by artist Paul Reed. After exploring his bold, geometric paintings in the galleries, young artists will experiment with bright colors, patterns, and design to create their own abstract masterpieces. This class encourages creativity, curiosity, and confidence—perfect for kids who love to play with art materials and use their imagination!
Paul Reed-Inspired Abstract Paintings
Designed for ages 18+
Discover the vibrant world of Paul Reed, a leading figure of the Washington Color School, celebrated for his bold geometric abstractions and dynamic use of color. In this class, participants will closely examine Reed’s distinctive approach to composition, form, and movement before creating their own abstract paintings inspired by his techniques. Through guided exploration and hands-on practice, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for Reed’s artistic vision and the expressive potential of color and shape.
Designed for ages 18+
Explore the bold geometry and layered color of Paul Reed’s abstract style in this relaxed, process-focused drawing class. Using materials such as acrylic paint pens, watercolors, and oil pastels, participants will experiment with pattern, repetition, and transparent color effects to create their own mixed-media compositions. Emphasizing an unhurried, exploratory approach, this class invites you to slow down, focus on the creative process, and discover the calming rhythm of color and design.
Color & Abstraction in Fused Glass
Designed for ages 13-17
Explore the vibrant possibilities of color and light in this hands-on fused glass workshop inspired by artist Paul Reed. Known for his bold geometric abstractions and dynamic use of color, Reed’s work provides the perfect spark for creative experimentation. Teens will learn the basics of glass fusing while designing their own layered glass artwork that captures the movement and energy of Reed’s abstract style.
All pieces will remain onsite for firing. Registrants will be contacted via email when their fused glass pieces are ready for pickup.
