For the second year in a row, Metropolitan Library System is bringing Oklahoma State Fair excitement straight to your library! Stop by for free themed kits, creative activities, and a chance to win a four-pack of general admission tickets to this year’s fair, happening Sept. 11-21. Make sure to chat with library staff about entering the raffle! Anyone with a Metro library card in good standing is eligible to enter! Plus, don’t miss out on fair-themed coloring pages, vintage memorabilia, and a cool State Fair Stamp Quest at the Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library from Aug. 25–30 and Sept. 2–8.
State Fair Programs include:
- DIY Mini Fair Foods In-Library Kit: Create tiny versions of classic fair treats using Model Magic, chalk pastels and more. Available as supplies last at Ralph Ellison Library on Sept. 9.
- State Fair Pennant Take-Home Kit: Design your own colorful pennant with felt, puff paint and patches. Available as supplies last at Bethany Library Sept. 2, Midwest City Library and Northwest Library Sept, 2-8, Ralph Ellison Library and Del City Library Sept. 8-14, and the Ronald J. Norick Library Sept. 9-16.
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15–Oct. 15! We’re honoring rich traditions and culture across our libraries with live performances, art, food, and activities for all ages. Enjoy ongoing in-library events like the Hispanic Heritage Knowledge Quiz from Sept. 15-Oct. 10 at Capitol Hill Library, and the Flag Collage Take-Home Kit anytime from Sept. 29-Oct. 10 at Ralph Ellison Library.

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! It’s your chance to unlock everything your card can do. Beyond borrowing books, movies, and music with no overdue fines, your card gives you access to eBooks, audiobooks, streaming movies, language learning, craft tutorials, genealogy tools, Wi-Fi, computers, and meeting spaces. Families can also enjoy storytimes, book clubs, scavenger hunts, and seasonal reading challenges.
