Everyone is invited to an Affordable Housing Forum from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Metro Tech’s Springlake Campus Conference Center, 1900 Springlake Drive.
The forum will bring residents, City leaders and housing experts together to share information, answer questions and discuss collaborative solutions.
Ward 2 Councilperson James Cooper, Ward 6 Councilwoman JoBeth Hamon and Ward 7 Councilman Camal Pennington will host the event. City of Oklahoma City Strategy Implementation Managers Shannon Entz and Jamie Caves will present the information.
Affordable housing is one of the most pressing challenges facing Oklahoma City residents. Rising rents, limited housing supply and wage gaps make it harder for people to find safe, stable affordable homes.
Attendees will learn about OKC’s Key to Home Partnership, hear updates on the City’s affordable housing programs, get information about the recently formed Housing Advisory Group, and listen to a panel discussion highlighting the current state of affordable housing in Oklahoma City.
“Oklahoma City has a severe shortage of affordable housing, particularly for residents in extremely low and median-income households, including teachers, public health workers and those in retail, hospitality and service industry,” Ward 2 Councilperson James Cooper said. “This forum is an opportunity for the community to better understand our challenges and to learn about the steps we are taking as a City to expand access to safe, stable housing.”
The forum is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
