(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK) At the October 6 Board of Education meeting, Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) presented its first monthly progress report on the district’s recently adopted strategic goals. These monthly updates will continue at each board meeting for the next five years, providing transparency and accountability as OKCPS works toward long-term student success.

This month’s report focused on two interim goals under Strategic Goal 3, which aims to increase the percentage of 11th and 12th grade students who complete a postsecondary option.

Interim Goal 3B targets 9th grade academic achievement, specifically increasing the percentage of students passing Algebra I and English I. OKCPS is proud to report that for the 2024-2025 school year, they are on track and demonstrating strong momentum toward this goal.

Interim Goal 3C focuses on postsecondary engagement, aiming to raise the percentage of 11th and 12th grade students enrolling in at least one postsecondary opportunity. OKCPS is proud to report that for the 2024-2025 school year, they are on track and have made a significant step forward in this goal.

“These early results show that our strategic goals are more than just words on paper, it’s driving real change for our students,” said OKCPS Chief Strategy Officer Jason Galloway. “By aligning our short-term goals with long-term outcomes, we’re ensuring every initiative contributes meaningfully to student success. We’re committed to keeping our community informed and engaged every step of the way.”

According to Alisha Suffield, OKCPS Chief Academic Officer, the district will report on 3rd and 4th grade reading scores during November’s board meeting and will continue to report monthly on progress toward strategic goals. This ensures students, families, and stakeholders remain engaged in the district’s journey toward excellence.
