The Oklahoma City Fire Department (OKCFD) sends this information as posted below:
The Oklahoma City Fire Department’s Mobile Integrated Healthcare program recently received a grant for $572,697 through the Opioid Abatement Grant, a program of the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board (OAB). The grant will be distributed throughout a three-year period for the purpose of promoting and protecting the health of Oklahomans by helping abate the effects of the opioid epidemic.
The grant provides for two new Mobile Integrated Healthcare staff positions dedicated to community outreach and education. The grant also will fund leave-behind kits, Narcan and other equipment and supplies needed for the treatment of opioid addiction.
“Since our official launch of Mobile Integrated Healthcare in May 2025, we’ve seen a positive impact in providing support for those struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues,” Oklahoma City Fire Chief Richard Kelley said. “This grant helps us expand our team to make sure Oklahoma City residents experiencing opioid addiction get the help and support they need when they need it.”
The grant award to the OKCFD’s Mobile Integrated Healthcare program took effect in August 2025 and will disburse funds through June 2028.
“Short- and long-term strategies are needed to overcome opioid use and addiction, and this grant provides resources to expand our work in both areas,” said Lori Brown-Loftis, Mobile Integrated Healthcare program manager. “From harm reduction kits to suboxone inductions to additional staff members to community risk reduction programs, this grant extends are ability to connect people with care that’s needed for navigating the recovery process.”
The Opioid Abatement Grant program distributes funds from opioid litigation to local municipalities, counties, school districts and public trusts to assist in combating the opioid crisis through treatment, education and prevention strategies. The program is overseen by the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board, which is attached to the Office of the Attorney General.
The Board has conducted multiple rounds of grant awards, with recent rounds in 2024 and 2025 distributing over $28 million to various entities statewide.
Mobile Integrated Healthcare is part of the OKC Public Safety Partnership, a collaboration among community stakeholders, City Council, OKCPD, OKCFD and residents to advance public safety for the Oklahoma City community.
