The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden has a gift for all to enjoy: an extra day to explore the Zoo! The OKC Zoo is in its winter hours, but due to the unseasonably warm temperatures predicted in the coming the days, the Zoo will open on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the last entry at 3:30 p.m.
“The holidays are a time for making memories with friends and family, and that includes our animal family,” said Dr. Dwight Lawson, Executive Director and CEO of the OKC Zoo. “The unseasonably warm weather makes this a great chance to get out of the house and enjoy the wild world around us.”
Start the holiday break with a visit to the OKC Zoo to experience immersive habitats including Oklahoma Trails, Sanctuary Asia, and Expedition Africa, and, of course, see the Zoo’s wondrous wildlife up-close. The Zoo has celebrated several animal births this year and these youngsters–Asian elephant, Xerxes; langur, Frankie; giraffe, Kamili; okapi, Maple; and zebra foals, Atlas and Lyra are sure to be more active with this idyllic weather on the way!
Guests are encouraged to make the most of their visit and take advantage of Smart Parks, https://map.okczoo.org, the Zoo’s digital map and schedule of happenings. All rides and attractions are operational weather permitting and schedules are subject to change without notice. Purchase Zoo admission in advance online at www.okczoo.org/tickets for faster access into the park.
The Zoo’s winter hours resume on Wednesday, December 24 with the park being closed that day as well as closed on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 2025.
Don’t forget to make your holidays merry and BRIGHT with OKC ZOO SAFARI LIGHTS, presented by OG&E which continues nightly including holidays through Sunday, January 4, 2026. Discover larger-than-life illuminated lanterns highlighting wildlife and seasonal scenes on a 20-minute driving tour through the OKC Zoo before walking through for more lanterns, interactive displays, and picture-perfect photo opportunities the whole family will love. Also new at this year’s OKC ZOO SAFARI LIGHTS are igloo rentals and Safari Sleigh rides. SAFARI LIGHTS runs nightly from 5:30 to 11 p.m. with the last check in at 10 p.m.
