PRESS RELEASE: OKC Modern Quilt Guild prepares for 2025 Quilt Show

The OKC Modern Quilt Guild sends this information as posted below:

Oklahoma City (Oct. 11, 2025) — Members of the Oklahoma City Modern Quilt Guild are busy stitching all the pieces into place for their 2025 Quilt Show. This year’s show will feature 100 quilts in the main exhibit and additional quilts in two special exhibits. Quilt enthusiasts can expect a stunning visual experience full of color, creativity, and cutting-edge quilting techniques in categories including improvisation, modern traditionalism and alternate grid, small quilts, “It’s All in the Details,” “Maybe Modern,” self-portraits, and round-robin quilts.

The 2025 Quilt Show is the first in what is planned to be a biennial quilt show series. Oklahoma City Modern Quilt Guild has grown significantly since its founding in 2010 and now boasts over 70 active members. Approximately two-thirds of active members have quilts in the show. “I hope people feel the same energy and excitement in these quilts that we do,” said Tisha Bowen, guild member. “Modern quilting has distinct design elements that differentiate it from what most people expect when they hear the word ‘quilting.’” Those modern elements include bold colors and prints, high contrast and graphic areas of solid color, and an emphasis on improvisation, among others. Quilt show attendees can take home their own modern quilt by purchasing items at the quilt show boutique or by entering a raffle for one of two quilts.

Showstopping Featured Quilts

Two original quilts from the show will be available through a raffle:

● “Skydance Bridge” – A bold and graphic quilt measuring 63 in. x 83 in., inspired by OKC’s iconic structure. This quilt was shown at the Modern Quilt Guild’s national QuiltCon 2025 and showcases the foundation paper piecing method.

● “Indian Blanket” – A beautiful improv-style quilt measuring 38 in. x 51 in. that celebrates dynamic color and design. This quilt includes an intricate beaded detail at the flower’s center.

The OKC Modern Quilt Guild 2025 Quilt Show will be on view Oct. 17 and 18 at the OKC Fairgrounds Arts Annex, 3000 General Pershing Blvd. The show is sponsored by Legit Kits and World Weidner.
