“Ambiguous Indifference,” a film produced by Cameron University professor Matt Jenkins, is an official selection at the 2025 Great Plains Film Festival.
“We’re excited to be included in this year’s lineup of movies,” Jenkins said. “The Great Plains Film Festival promotes independent film, so it is a perfect opportunity to screen ‘Ambiguous Indifference.’”
The film will screen as a part of the 9 am block, Saturday September 6, 2025, at the historic Rodeo Cinema in Oklahoma City’s Stockyards.
Pamela Bell stars as big city book editor Cheryl Long whose car breaks down stranding her in small town Oklahoma. Meeting mechanic Dooley Jax and his eccentric friends, Cheryl encourages Dooley to pen a novel after recognizing his writing prowess. Cheryl tells Dooley to contact her when “it’s” done. The problem is, does she mean when the book is written or when her car is repaired? Dooley embarks on a trip to Houston to find out.
The Great Plains Film Festival showcases a range of films and provides a platform for independent filmmakers.
An Oklahoma actress, Bell is nominated for the Best Actress Award at the festival for her performance as Cheryl Long in the movie.
Regarding “Ambiguous Indifference,” the London based Monkey Bread Tree Film Awards said, “This film comes with a great feeling of locality and a community of actors who have helped bring this film to the screen.”
The movie received an honorable mention at the West Palm Beach, Florida Northwood Film Festival whose organizers said, “Thank you for pointing out we are all a ‘little out there’ and offering us a bit of Oklahoma eccentricities to the Northwood Film Festival here in Florida.”
Filming took place in various locations including Mountain Park, Oklahoma; Beach City, Baytown and Houston, Texas; and New York City. The movie features Sylvia Corkill, reporter and weekend anchor for KWTV in Oklahoma City, cult movie director Pat Bishow of Amusement Films as well as Cameron University alumni.
