EL RENO, OKLA. – The City of El Reno will present a proclamation declaring August as Oklahoma Indian Nation’s Month during a press conference on Wednesday, July 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the Filling Station Visitor Center, located at 120 S. Choctaw Ave.

Mayor Steve Jensen will present the proclamation to the Oklahoma Indian Nation’s Committee in recognition of the cultural and economic contributions of the Oklahoma Indian Nation Pow-Wow. In addition, the mayor will present a special gift to Miss Denver March Powwow 2025. The event will include remarks from Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribal leaders and a performance by the Buddy Bond Color Guard.

As part of the celebration, a parade will be held in downtown El Reno on Friday, August 1 at 10:00 a.m., kicking off the weekend of Pow-Wow festivities.

The proclamation honors the Oklahoma Indian Nation Pow-Wow, now in its 35th year, as one of the largest traditional gatherings in central Oklahoma. Held August 1–3, 2025, in El Reno—the capital city of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes—the event draws Native dancers, special guests, and visitors from across the United States and Canada.

In conjunction with the Pow-Wow, the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes will also host their annual Summerfest, featuring food vendors, Native arts and crafts booths, and a variety of free games, activities, and sporting events for youth, adults, and elders.

The City of El Reno proudly recognizes the Oklahoma Indian Nation Pow-Wow for its ongoing role in cultural preservation, tourism, and community engagement.
