PRESS RELEASE: Community asked to practice safety near Capitol Hill construction site

Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) sends this information as posted below:

Oklahoma City, OK – As Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) continues to make progress on projects funded by the district’s historic 2022 bond package, Capitol Hill High School is preparing for the next phase of improvements while urging caution from the public.

Internal demolition of the school’s Field House is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 25, 2025. The project will start with internal demolition, which is expected to continue for approximately three weeks. The district is urging the community to be mindful of avoiding the area if possible, as crews may begin mobilizing equipment and performing light demolition work earlier in the week to prepare the site.

For the safety of students, families, staff and the surrounding community, everyone is strongly urged to stay clear of the job site at all times. Active demolition and the presence of heavy machinery create hazardous conditions in and around the area.

Further updates on the project will be shared as work progresses.
