OKLAHOMA CITY – Members of Civil Air Patrol’s Oklahoma Wing began exercises Saturday morning to train for emergency relief efforts ranging from hurricane recovery and tornado relief to critical infrastructure assessment.
Civil Air Patrol uses the world’s largest fleet of single-engine aircraft, small unmanned aerial systems, and trained search and rescue teams located throughout the state to accomplish this training.
The mission base is located near the Oklahoma State Capitol with staff members traveling from across the state to support the exercise. Saturday’s training focused on assessing and photographing crucial infrastructure, such as bridges, dams, and power plants, in addition to practicing search and rescue techniques.
